What starts with a "U" and ends with Cancer? Uranium, of course! Unfortunately, all that yellowcake that is mined releases radioactive material into the environment. Radon 222 in the air, Thorium in the water, etc. These radioactive elements cause cancer, birth defects, miscarriages, kidney and lung disease.

There is no "safe" low dose of radiation. Areas exposed to radiation, even low doses, accumulate that radiation over time. In Nebraska, there are mutant Aspen trees similar to the mutant Aspen trees found near Chernobyl.

In the aftermath of Chernobyl, so many children have been born with mutations that the orphanages in Russia are overflowing and actually have more orphans than during WW II. This is because the parents can't deal with mutant children created by the radioactive fallout from Chernobyl.

Birth defects, cancer and miscarriages as well as kidney and lung disease have been found in higher than usual incidences at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation which is downwind and downstream of uranium mining that releases Radon, Thorium and arsenic.

Whoever is in favor of uranium mining or nuclear power must therefore be in favor of these birth defects, cancers, kidney and lung diseases.
