No Nukes

If you thought the hippies in the 70s and 80s took care of nuclear power issues with the famous "No Nukes" movement, think again. Since going bankrupt after Three Mile Island (1979) and Chernobyl (1980), the industry has reorganized itself with the help of vested interests and political connections like Dick Cheney.

Cheney's secret energy task force decided to push for so-called "clean" nuclear power. Since 2002, the price of Yellowcake Uranium has risen from $7.00/lb to over $150.00/lb inviting greedy uranium speculators like NAEG as well as large Canadian mining companies like Cameco (Crow Buttes Resources), Powertech, and Trans America (and its subsidiary Nuclear Energy Inc.) Cheney has also worked behind the scenes with the NRC to steamline the process for getting permits for new nuclear power plants.

Magazines trumpet the heralded new age of so-called "clean" nuclear power while ignoring the huge environmental cost to the water supplies, wildlife and people.

Other publications like the LA Times have done great stories debunking the myth of so-called "clean" nuclear power and have demonstrated that conservation, efficiency and renewable resources are already meeting our energy needs and will do so in the future so that nuclear power is not needed. The point has also been made that the nuclear power plants will not come on line in time to solve our crisis making so-called "clean" nuclear power an empty promise by those who would make people believe that we need it to solve our energy needs.

We call upon all allies to join this Buffalo spirit and defeat all proponents of so-called "clean" nuclear power.
